Secure your Client Area account
Your Client Area controls your services, billing and domains, so it's important to protect it. We strongly recommend turning on two-factor authentication.
Turn on two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication asks for a code from an app on your phone each time you log in, as well as your password. Even if someone learns your password, they can't log in without your phone.
1. Log in to the Client Area.
2. Click Hello, your name! at the top right, then Security Settings.
3. Under Two-Factor Authentication, click Click here to Enable.
4. Follow the steps on the screen. You'll scan a QR code with an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy, and enter the code it shows.
5. If you're given a backup code, save it somewhere safe. You'll need it to log in if you lose your phone.
From then on, you'll enter a code from the app each time you log in.
More ways to protect your account
- Use a strong, unique password. Don't reuse a password from another website. See Change or reset your Client Area password.
- Set a security question. On the same Security Settings page, under Change Security Question, choose a question and an answer others can't guess. We may ask it to confirm who you are.
- Give each person their own login. Instead of sharing your password with staff or a web developer, invite them with their own login and only the permissions they need. See Give someone access to your account.
- Remove access you no longer need. Under Hello, your name! > User Management, click Remove Access for anyone who no longer works with you.
- Keep your email address up to date and secure. Password reset links and important notices go to your email, so protect that mailbox too. See Change your email address.
- Check your email history. Under Hello, your name! > Email History, you can see every email we've sent you, which helps you spot anything unexpected.
If you think someone else has accessed your account, change your password right away and open a support ticket.
