Before installing cPanel, we recommend your server be partitioned appropriately.  The default partitioning scheme for Virtual Servers is sufficient.  Acenet has a recommended partitioning scheme for Dedicated Servers.  cPanel should only be installed on a fresh, clean Operating System. Once your server has the appropriate partitioning and has been licensed for cPanel, follow the below steps for installation.
This guide is for Acenet cloud servers and dedicated servers ordered with a cPanel license, if cPanel isn't already installed. To check, try logging in to WHM at https://your-server-ip:2087.

[1] Login to your server as the root user via SSH.

* Start with a '''fresh installation''' of an operating system that cPanel supports, such as AlmaLinux or CloudLinux, with nothing else installed. See cPanel's [https://docs.cpanel.net/installation-guide/system-requirements/ system requirements].
* Set the server's '''hostname''' to a fully qualified name that isn't one of your websites' domains, for example server.example.com, and point it to the server's IP address in DNS.
* The installation takes 30 to 60 minutes.

This guide is for Acenet cloud servers and dedicated servers ordered with a cPanel license, if cPanel isn't already installed. To check, try logging in to WHM at https://your-server-ip:2087.

Before you start

  • Start with a fresh installation of an operating system that cPanel supports, such as AlmaLinux or CloudLinux, with nothing else installed. See cPanel's system requirements.
  • Set the server's hostname to a fully qualified name that isn't one of your websites' domains, for example server.example.com, and point it to the server's IP address in DNS.
  • The installation takes 30 to 60 minutes.

Install cPanel

1. Log in to your server as root over SSH.

2. Run:

cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://securedownloads.cpanel.net/latest && sh latest

3. When the installation finishes, log in to WHM as root at https://your-server-ip:2087 (for example https://192.0.2.10:2087) and complete the setup wizard.

License

Your cPanel license is provided by Acenet and is tied to your server's IP address. If WHM shows a license warning after installation, run this as root to refresh it:

/usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt

If the warning stays, please open a support ticket.

For full details, see cPanel's installation guide.
