You can move a domain you've registered elsewhere to Acenet. A transfer usually adds a year to the registration.

Before you start

At your current registrar:

  • Unlock the domain (turn off the registrar or transfer lock).
  • Get the domain's authorization code (also called the EPP code or auth code).
  • Make sure the domain's contact email address is one you can receive mail at, because some registrars send a confirmation email.

Domains can't be transferred within 60 days of being registered or transferred, or within 60 days of some contact changes.

Request the transfer

1. Log in to the Client Area.

2. Click Domains, then Transfer Domains to Us.

3. Enter the Domain Name, for example example.com, and the Authorization Code.

4. Click Add to Cart and complete the checkout.

After the order is paid, we start the transfer. It usually takes up to 5 to 7 days. Your current registrar may send you an email asking you to approve the transfer, which can speed it up.

Your website and email keep working during the transfer, as long as you don't change the nameservers at the same time. To change them afterwards, see Change your domain's nameservers.
