New article (cPanel section, Oct 2026)

New page

We back up your cPanel hosting account automatically every day with '''JetBackup''', and store the backups on separate storage. You can restore files, databases, email accounts or your whole account yourself, or download a backup, from cPanel.

Backups are usually kept for about two weeks. You can see which backup dates are available in JetBackup. For important data, also keep your own copies, for example by downloading a backup regularly.

== Open JetBackup ==

'''1.''' Log in to cPanel. See [[Log in to cPanel and WHM from the Client Area]].

'''2.''' In the '''Files''' section, click '''JetBackup 5'''. You can also search for "JetBackup" in cPanel.

== Restore files ==

'''1.''' Click '''Home Directory'''.

'''2.''' Choose the backup date you want to restore from.

'''3.''' Select the files or folders to restore, for example only the public_html folder or a single file.

'''4.''' Click '''Restore''' and confirm.

Restored files replace the current files with the same names.

== Restore a database ==

'''1.''' Click '''Databases'''.

'''2.''' Select the database. To use an older backup, choose a different backup date.

'''3.''' Click '''Restore''' and confirm.

Restoring a database replaces its current contents with the backup.

== Restore email accounts ==

'''1.''' Click '''Email Accounts'''.

'''2.''' Select the email account. To use an older backup, choose a different backup date.

'''3.''' Click '''Restore''' and confirm.

== Restore your whole account ==

'''Full Account Backups''' restores everything in your account: files, databases, email and settings. '''This replaces all current data in your account''' with the backup, so only use it when you need to go back completely, for example after a serious problem. To undo a smaller mistake, restore only the files or database you need.

== Download a backup ==

You can download a backup to keep your own copy, for example a full account backup or a single database. Choose the backup and select download instead of restore. When it's ready, you'll find the download link in JetBackup.

== Check progress ==

Restores and downloads are added to the '''Queue'''. Open it to see progress. When the status shows '''Completed''', the restore is done.

If you need help restoring, or the backup you need isn't listed, please [[Open a support ticket|open a support ticket]].
