<b>What is email spoofing?</b> <br>
<br>
Email spoofing is when a sender of an email, generally a spammer, changes the "From" and "Reply To" so that it shows a different email address other than their own.<br>
This makes the email appear to have come from a legitimate email address, which is the not spammer's own email address.<br>
A spoofed email is <b>not</b> sent from the legitimate email address' server.<br>
It is sent from the spammers email server.<br>

<b>What can be done to stop email spoofing?</b><br>
<br>
Stopping someone from spoofing can only be done on the sending server end.<br>
Acenet has configured our email servers so that an email sent from our server requires the sender and the from address to be the same.<br>
This means that an email address cannot be spoofed using Acenet's servers.<br>
However, this does not stop someone on a NON-Acenet server from spoofing emails.<br>

There are some things that you can do to help keep your email address from being spoofed.<br>
1. Do not post your email address online in blogs or posts. <br>
2. If you do need to post your email address online, use the word <b>(at)</b> instead of <b>@</b> and use <b>(dot)com</b> instead of <b>.com</b><br>
<i>For instance: sample(at)example(dot)com</i><br>
3. Set up a different email address to use for mailing lists, giveaways, contests, etc.<br>
<i>Creating a gmail, yahoo, or hotmail account is easy and a perfect use for these types of things.</i><br>
4. Use your main email address for interacting with business associates, family, and people you know.<br>
<br>
<b>But my emails are being marked as spam.</b><br>
<br>
Since the email looks like it is coming from your email address, your email address could be listed as a sender of spam.
To help prevent this, you can setup SPF and DKIM for your domain.<br>
GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo, and AOL all use a combination of SPF, DKIM, and other methods to help validate the sender of a particular mail message. Enabling these methods will help validate the sender and will help your mail be delivered successfully. <br>
